ALS, 1891 Oct. 18, Washington, to James Clarke Welling.

Chambrun, who received two law degrees from Columbian University (now George Washington University), presents four volumes to President Welling for the University's Library. The ALS is in the front of vol. 1 of: Cours de littérature française : littérature du moyen âge / A.F. Villemain. Paris : Pichon et Didier, 1830 (PQ151.V6 1830). Also included in the gift was: Cours de littérature française : tableau du dix-huitième siècle / A.F. Villemain. Paris : Pichon et Didier, 1829 (vols. 3 and 4). The books were in the library of his late father, the marquis de Chambrun.
